A recent survey from Grid Raster reveals nearly all enterprises are already using or are looking forward to adopting augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technology
According to a survey from Grid Raster, 91% of tech enterprises are already using or are planning to adopt AR and VR technology. Sizeable productivity and noticeable cost savings were also seen in the survey of tech executives. The mobile AR/VR technology is implemented in some form by 56% of businesses, while 35% of them are considering doing so.
Coronavirus Pandemic – Employee Expenses Are on the Rise
Nearly 25% of executives surveyed said they have fully deployed solutions and are looking to scale up AR/VR use. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is set to change the way the world works, and hence it is a good time to adopt different technologies. A significant increase in AR and VR adoption is expected, especially as companies across all industries find ways to implement more virtual design into their workflows to minimize human interaction.
Some of the top use cases of AR and VR found by the survey are as follow –
- 26% of enterprises are using AR and VR to train employees.
- 60% of organizations are using the technology to virtually supplement labor on production floors
- 53% of companies are adopting the tech for conducting virtual customer visits
- 53% of them are using it for virtual design and product engineering
According to the survey, the use of AR and VR technology for mobile devices during the pandemic has become more practical. Today, it is easier for people to access AR training as the majority of them have e a smartphone or tablet. Customers can also have technicians visit their homes to diagnose problems without physically being present there. In the case of designers, they can collaborate with the clients on 3D models.
How AI is used for Hiring Senior Leadership Roles
As per the survey, enterprises have witnessed an increase in productivity after adopting mobile AR and VR. This has helped several businesses cope up with the lost productivity as employees are getting used to working remotely. Nearly 30% of enterprises reported a 25% increase in productivity, found the survey. Sixty-one percent of companies surveyed said leveraging AR/VR has resulted in a 20% cost savings.
According to IDC, global spending on AR and VR technology is expected to increase by 78.5% in 2021. Hence, enterprises will need to keep a tab on important trends this year.
